Can't agree more with Celmo, this place rocks. I might be biased since I lived in the caribbean for years, and when I moved here to South Florida this was the first place I found 5 years ago. Vinny is a great guy, the jerk pork is to die for. Really spicy and goes great with a ting soda. Yeh mon! Erik

Oh lordy! That was the best jerk chicken I have ever ever had. I was staying in Sanibel where the food is totally mediocre. I was starving after a trip to the Edison estate and quickly yelped for top rated food in the area. This place is worth a trip just there. I ordered the small and the portion was very generous. Delicious, fall off the bone chicken with a heavenly spice blend, not too hot, just the right kick and definitely not the crappy white people take on Caribbean food. Love it! If you love Caribbean food, do yourself a favor and get out here!

I am not an expert on Caribbean food, but I can tell you that the Jerk Chicken and the Jerk Pork are delicious. They both are so tender that when you pick up the bone the meat just falls off. The spices are incredible, and spicy. The owner is super friendly and helpful. If you like Jerk chicken or pork this is the place to go.

It was about 12:15 and the place was empty. Man, all the reviews on yelp said how good the food was, I fig'd it'd be busy. I walked in and was asked if I needed help. (later to find out it was Vincent the owner) Said I might need some lunch. He says "might?" I said "I hear its good." He says, "you'll love it." So i ordered a combo with jerk pork, oxtails and some goat. An order of jerk chicken was also ordered. Some of the best Jamaican food i've had this side of Jamaica. Well better than some i've had IN Jamaica. All of the meat fell off the bone it was so tender. The goat was good, not gamey at all. The pork was good, but not quite as spicy as i'd like, hot sauce on the table cured that. The standout? The oxtail. Rich, meaty, tender. Next time, just give me the pot full of oxtails and a bib. I forgot to tell him to leave the rice and beans off my plate to stay low carb, but forget it, the meat was so good, I ate the rice and beans as a way to get to all the juicy meaty goodness. Six tables in the joint, but nearly everyone that came in was known by name, another couple came in to eat, but there was a constant stream of people coming in for take-out while we ate. Vincent came over and asked how we were doing, and if it was good. I said "You don't hear us talking do you? Just eatin." he laughed and said "Irie mon." He got the fist bump on the way out. Is it dinner time yet? I'm ready to go back.

V & M Caribbean Market & Restaurant is gone along with Vincent and any restaurant glamour the place may have had. It is now Caribbean Dutch Pot Restaurant & Groceries, a rather third rate, if even that, hole in the wall take out jerked food joint with little if any redeeming value to it.

Visiting from Los Angeles, read the reviews and tried it. The owner is a jolly Jamaican man, just what you'd expect in a place like this. Authentic Jamaican products to buy. Ox tail is amazing and so is the Curry goat. If you don't believe me try it. The owner will give you a free sample!

I have to agree with Erik and not just because he is my brother. We called ahead and when we got there, Vinny had our order ready to go. You can eat in if you want--one guy was there, and he had a napkin tucked into his shirt and his mouth was full. He looked at me with this expectant look, so I thought he worked there, thought he was Vinny. Wrong on both counts. The food here rocks.

A friend saw a sign with them having Ox Tail and Goat. So we happened to stop in to La Best Bar & Grill for dinner. What a surprise, the old bus station in FM was turned into this white linen table cloth rest. The owner Vincent and the chef JR was awesome so very friendly. We did order the Ox tail and Goat with curry what a wonderful surprise. My first time eating both Jamaican dishes. Highly recommend this spot to everyone. The location is the only reason someone wouldn't think this place would have such great food. Can't wait to go back! They also had Zumba on Wednesday nights for those who have rhythm.

The food is outstanding. Vincent, the owner, has been cooking here for over 26 years and he has clearly perfected the craft. Jerk pork and chicken is fall-off-the-bone delicious. Meals come with a house salad and a rice and bean mix that is full of flavor. There is also has a small market with Caribbean seasonings, sauces, and grocery items. V & M is our new favorite restaurant in Fort Myers. It's easy to miss, so just look for "Mama Mia" - it is on the opposite side of the street in the depressing strip plaza.

The reviews said this place was great, but we found it just okay. Sure, it's better than the chain restaurants on the way there from the highway, but I've had better. The cashier wasn't very friendly. My jerk pork was some of the fattiest meat I've ever had; I threw away half of it because there was so much fat. The jerk seasoning was quite spicy, which was fine, though some might want to steer clear.

Saw other reviews and went here for lunch with friends. It's very much a hole-in-the wall-- half of the space is a grocery, and there are 5 or 6 tables. We had the curry goat, curry chicken, and jerk chicken-- the curry goat and jerk chicken were amazing (and the curry chicken was good, but try the goat or go for the jerk). The "small" portions were huge and came with salad and rice and beans.

found this on yelp before our trip. so glad i did! my fiance loves jerk chicken and this stuff was beyond any taste we've ever experienced! great little market with spices and other island goods. the owner/cook is SO friendly. he gave u some biz cards that i handed out to people we met over the weekend. its VERY easy to miss the store when driving by. its sandwiched in b/n 2 stores and has a small window front. if it wasnt pouring rain when we left i wouldve taken a pic to share on here!
